Gaming For Hope At Marist College

The event formerly known as Gaming Day is one of the fastest-growing student-sponsored events in the history of Marist College. The origins of Gaming Day stem from two events that the Anime Society and Computer Society held independently, the Console Gaming Tournament and the LAN Party, respectively. (A LAN Party, for those who may not know, is when a gathering of people who bring their computers to a central location and play video games against each other.) In the fall of 2002, the Computer Society decided to combine the two events to get a bigger turnout and make a larger event. Gaming Day took two events that had attendance of about 50 people each and combined them to make one of the largest club events the Marist community has. The Cabaret at Marist College is the third largest room available on campus, and with the past growth of the event, it was decided to move the event to the 3,944-person capacity James J. McCann Center. The Cabaret was too small to house all of the people who would attend if we advertised to the general public, which led to the relocation. The McCann Center is the largest space at Marist College and one of the largest venues in the Mid-Hudson Valley
